Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes Inclusion@work different from other consultants or investigators?

We adopt a wholistic approach combining legal, HR, governance, experiential learning and professional coaching expertise with a trauma-informed, people-centred approach. Our work is not just about compliance—it’s about creating safer, fairer, and more respectful workplaces where people thrive.

2. Do you provide legal advice?

While our team includes qualified lawyers and practising certificate holders trained in trauma informed and investigation techniques, Inclusion@work provides consulting services, not legal advice. For legal matters, we recommend engaging an independent law firm.

3. How do you ensure your investigations are fair and impartial?

We apply rigorous, best-practice methodologies grounded in procedural fairness and confidentiality. Our team brings an intersectional lens to our work, trained in trauma-informed investigation techniques to ensure all parties are treated respectfully and equitably.

4. What kinds of issues do you typically work with?

We support organisations dealing with workplace misconduct, bullying, discrimination, sexual harassment, gender-based discrimination, family violence impacts, conflict, cultural issues, risk, governance and leadership challenges. We help build proactive strategies for prevention, inclusion, and psychological safety.

5. Can you help with proactive culture-building, not just problems?

Yes—our work is as much about prevention and positive culture change as it is about resolution. In line with the positive duty to prevent workplace harm, we run experiential training and leadership development programs where participants learn by doing. We conduct cultural diagnostics and build capability and capacity to create workplaces where respect and inclusion are not only embedded but actively upheld.

6. Who do you typically work with?

We work with CEOs, HR leaders, DEI managers, boards and senior executives across sectors including corporate, government, manufacturing, professional services and NFP—anyone committed to improving workplace culture and addressing issues the right way.

7. How do you address gender-based issues in the workplace?

We apply an intersectional lens with evidence based, trauma informed approaches to gender equity challenges. This includes investigating sexual harassment claims, developing preventative policies, conducting gender equity audits, and creating tailored strategies that address power imbalances while supporting those affected by gender-based discrimination or violence.

8. Do you have expertise in family and domestic violence impacts on workplaces?

Yes. Our team has specialised training in the MARAM framework, and are accredited White Ribbon facilitators. In addition, we have extensive experience in the prevention of gendered violence and have developed bespoke, best practice programs for workplaces, recognising and addressing how family and domestic violence affects workplace safety and performance.

We help organisations develop supportive policies, understand safety planning, and using an experiential approach provide FDV first responder, employee and leadership training on FDV that protects employees while creating psychologically safe reporting pathways.

9. What is your approach to prevention work?

Prevention is central to creating sustainable culture change. We work with organisations and leaders to implement early intervention strategies, equip leaders in recognising warning signs, and create systems that actively prevent harassment,
discrimination, bias and exclusionary practices before they take root.

10. What does your intersectional approach mean in practice?

Intersectionality recognises that people experience workplaces differently based on multiple aspects of their identity—such as gender, race, disability, sexuality, and cultural background—that can create compounded experiences of discrimination or privilege. In practice, our intersectional approach means we:

  • Consider how policies and practices may impact different groups uniquely
  • Ensure investigations, mediations and solutions account for complex power
    dynamics
  • Design inclusive strategies that address the needs of diverse team members
  • Create safe spaces where multiple perspectives are valued
  • Analyse data and feedback through multiple demographic lenses

This approach leads to more equitable, inclusive solutions that work for everyone rather than one-size-fits-all approaches.
